Happy Thanksgiving from The Lupus Endeavor!
So much of our time is spent thinking of ourselves and all the things we want that we don’t have. Today is a day when we all get to take just a few seconds and remember what we are grateful for and what we do have.
I am grateful for life. Despite my mother’s Lupus, our lives are still full of excitement, happiness, and cherished moments. Each day I spend with her is a gift. Each day she feels better than the day before is a gift. Each day her mind is not affected is a gift. I am thankful for her perseverance, her will to fight, and her will to put others before herself, despite the pain.
Lupus has shown me just how strong my mother is. It has shown me something I could not have understood without it. I am not thankful that my mom suffers, but I am thankful for the the virtues she has thrown through it.
Happy Thanksgiving! Remember to take a second and help out your family member(s) suffering from Lupus with the cooking or to just sit them down and remind them that you love them. And to all the Lupus survivors out there, take it easy and do not overdo it. Enjoy today because it is a gift, and remember just how thankful we all are for you.
